What Can I Do With Digital Scrapbooking Elements?
You can do practically anything with a digital page that you can on a physical one; add depth and dimension, create torn or distressed finishes, stamp designs, color photos and the list goes on. Just about the only thing you’ll have a hard time doing digitally is wasting physical supplies. Digital elements can be manipulated repeatedly. If you don’t like where a particular item is at on a page simply move or rotate it until you’re satisfied. There’s no glue to worry about. There’s also little to no mess either so it’s easy to start a project and come back to it later if you get interrupted. One of the biggest positives of digital scrapbooking elements is that you’ll never run out of an element. As long as you maintain an unaltered backup copy of each element it’s a simple matter to open a new copy every time you need one. No more running out in the middle of a project and hoping the craft store still has that color/size/style of element in stock.
A variety of software programs are available and able to accept digital scrapbooking elements. They range from MS Word and PowerPoint to Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. There are also digital scrapbooking software packages designed specifically for scrapping. Choose the software that works best for you. For help in choosing, check out our Digital Scrapbooking Software and Photo Editing Software reviews.
Printing is only one option for a digital scrapbook page. You can use your layouts to create a slide show, send them to an online printer to have them made into a book and printed or share the digital layout file with family and friends. Your children can use the digital elements to enhance book reports, video assignments and Science and History Fairs. The ideas are limitless. What About Paper Scrapbookers?
Now, if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool paper scrapper, you may think that digital scrapbooking elements don’t work for you. Well, that’s simply not the case. There’s a new breed of scrapbooker in town. A hybrid scrapbooker is a person who uses both types of elements in memory keeping. Many of the sites we reviewed offered dimensional or printable products—everything from candy bar wrappers to bag toppers to gift boxes and envelopes to name just a few. You can also print any of the elements on a color printer and cut them out to use on paper projects. The opportunities are only limited by your imagination.
